Kudos

Webmaster's note: Anyone who gets to know Jeff will find him to be an incredibly down-to-earth, thoughtful, kind, generous and humble person ― not at all what one might expect from an exceptionally talented rocker who rubs elbows with the rich and famous and plays a central role in one of the greatest ensemble bands ever!  In fact, when not touring or recording, he devotes much of his time to visiting schools all over the country with Mark Wood through Mark's outstanding Electrify Your Strings program, performing and working with orchestra directors and students to create exciting, fun and cool music programs.  Seeing so many appreciative messages sent to Jeff via this site, I've taken the liberty to create this special page of excerpts as an unsought but well-deserved tribute...

"I just met you last night at the concert in Indianapolis.  This was our 3rd time seeing TSO but the first with this “cast”.  I won front row tickets and the meet-and-greet passes.  I'm sure you do so many of those that you are really tired of having to talk to fans, but I would like to thank you for being so kind and not acting anything other than happy to meet us.   You were down to earth and personable, and we really appreciated that!"

"When you tossed out drum sticks I was in the third row, front and center, and made eye contact with you hoping to get one for my 8-year-old daughter who was with me.  You saw my gesture and obliged. Thank you again, she was floored.  This was her first concert and she was wowed and truly touched by your kind act.  Your drum stick is now mounted on the wall in her room."

"The Manchester NH concert was the first ever for our 9-year-old son, Will, who loves TSO’s music.  Before the show we bought him drum sticks as a souvenir, and after the show we got in line for autographs.  The first person Will got to see at the table happened to be Jeff Plate.  Even though the security people wanted us to keep moving, Jeff took the time to sign one stick, telling Will to keep that one special, and had the rest of the band sign the other.  Will has slept with these sticks every night since.  It was a huge expense to bring our whole family to this concert, but to see our little boy’s face and how happy Jeff made him made it worth every penny.  I hope to make attending the TSO concert every year a family tradition."

"I just wanted you to know that you truly inspired someone with your performance, and made a difference that will last a lifetime."

""Thank you for making the trip to Shelby, N. C. to work with our kids! Taking the time to encourage music within kids across America is a huge gift that you give to our youth. I hope you will always continue this mission."

"I think it is great what you do with the children and in your community. Keep up the good work".

"Jeff, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you. During your concerts with TSO in Akron and Cleveland, Ohio over the past few years, you took the time to get to know my sister. In Akron, Ohio, at the E.J. Thomas music hall, you asked her why she had so much stuff in her purse (it was full of medicine for her heart and lungs). That was the first time she had seen TSO and she became an instant fan.  We made it our trip every year to come watch the show, and every time during the meet-and-greet you made it a point to give her a hug and a kiss and ask how her health was.  I don't think you know just how much that meant to her.  Sadly, she passed away on March 22, 2007.  The amount of joy and happiness you brought my sister just by being the kind and caring person that you are can never be repaid, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
